Bilton High School 6th Form - our biggest CPR/Defib awareness day/session so far!
By Naomi Rees Issitt
Today has been an extra long one.
This morning I spent the morning with Bilton School, sixth form students. What a rewarding morning for me and my mum! So many relevant questions and virtually all of the 90 students took part in the demonstrations.
We asked, when we started the session, if any of them would have a go at CPR or try using a defibrillator in an emergency situation and only 1 person raised their hand to say yes…at the end of our session, everyone in the room said they would absolutely give it a go! That’s what we love to hear, that our sessions have built confidence in people and they would try to use these life saving skills if they were ever needed.
This evening Jem and I went over to Daventry Methodist Church to deliver the CPR/AED Information and awareness session to another 18 people. Again, a very positive session, with great questions and everyone lighting up lots of foreheads. Thank you all for taking part, that’s another 18 people with the confidence to try to save a life, if the worst was ever to happen.
Never underestimate the importance of spreading awareness around cardiac arrest, accessible defibrillators, CPR and life saving skills. We are so grateful to all the people who ask us along to deliver these sessions, it really does make a difference and we are so determined to change the many misconceptions around defibrillators and the importance of bystander CPR.
As always, I’m totally lead and inspired by my darling Jamie and I’ve really needed him beside me today, telling me to keep going!
