By Naomi Rees Issitt

News hero: We love a charity colab!

OurJays accessible defibrillator number 271!

We all know that this will be one of the most regularly visited by our precious Jamie! 🐾💙

We are so honoured that we could support another charity to have an OurJay accessible defibrillator 💙🩵💙 Thank you to Custom Heat Ltd for installing this completely free of charge for us ⭐️

Funds from OurJays festival purchased this life saving equipment x

Pawprints Dog Rescue is proud to announce the installation of a fully funded community-accessible defibrillator at the entrance to our rescue kennels, made possible by the support of local Rugby charity, the amazing OurJay Foundation 💙

Located on the outer fence of our rescue site by our main entrance gate, this defibrillator is now available to anyone in the vicinity to use during a cardiac emergency 🚨

Our founder and CEO, Anita, shares why this means so much to not only the charity, but to her personally: “4 years ago, I actually had a heart attack myself. It was absolutely terrifying - it came out of nowhere. I had no idea I had a heart problem and so often people are not aware...”

Anita adds:

“To now have a defibrillator available on-site, ready to help someone in a similar emergency, is so reassuring. The fact we have been able to team up with another beloved and meaningful Rugby charity on this project, means all the much more. OurJay Foundation do such incredible work and we cannot thank them enough for their support!”

This vital equipment has been provided and fully funded by the foundation, which was formed in memory of Jamie Rees, who tragically passed away from sudden cardiac arrest in 2022.

Naomi, Jamie’s mum and chair of the charity, says:

“We love being able to team up with other charities. Our Jamie adored dogs - not only his own, but any dog or animal would have 100% of his attention! Now this defibrillator is installed, I can guarantee our little shining star will be a regular visitor to it, he’d love that we've installed one of his defibs with Pawprints and the pups!”

Nat, Pawprints' Fundraising Officer, adds:

“We’re so honoured and thankful to be able to collaborate with OurJay, especially after finding out about Jamie’s love for animals! It’s been an absolute privilege welcoming Naomi, Tracey and Jem on-site, especially as they were able to meet some of our rescue dogs and see what Pawprints is all about. Thank you to the OurJay team and the local community for making this defibrillator installation possible.”

A huge thanks also to Dave, Ryan and the team from Custom Electric (Custom Heat Ltd) for dedicating their time and expertise to install the unit swiftly and safely.

This defibrillator is a life-saving resource for the local community, our visitors, volunteers, staff and yes… even the dogs! 🐾

Let’s continue working together to make our community safer!
