News hero: West Midlands Police get another 7 vehicle defies from OurJay

What a huge day for us all at OurJay Foundation! 💙👮🏽‍♀️🚔

It’s hard not to get emotional and very sad, when we think about the reason for our ‘Jamies Law’ campaign, but today we went to meet with Sergeant Kelly Webber, Inspector Andy Sharp and Chief Superintendent Kim Madill of Sandwell area of West Midlands Police, along with many of their colleagues…the reason for our visit? to donate 7 more police vehicle defibrillators to them! That’s 4 for their drone vehicles and 3 for their first response vehicles.

They just get it! Everyone we met today had some sort of experience with needing a defibrillator and they all totally back us and our campaign.

Again, after the incident in Warwickshire yesterday, of course, we wish we could fund defibrillators for every police vehicle across the UK, but we are just a small charity, so bit by bit is still such an achievement for us. This is more vehicles equipped with vital life saving defibrillators and more officers who have defibrillators at hand, when they could be the difference between life and death in the community or with their own colleagues.

You all know why this is so important to us! Our officers should have defibrillators, they are the only blue light emergency service that do not carry them and yet, they are usually first on the scene to cardiac emergencies outside of hospitals.

We truly feel that our Jamie could be standing here with us today, if police vehicle defibrillators had been available on the night he collapsed in cardiac arrest. We wish things had been so different. But we keep fighting, change must happen. This all adds to the vital need for #JamiesLaw which would make it mandatory for all police vehicles across the UK to carry defibrillators.

Not a few, not specific police vehicles, not just ‘as many as possible’…ALL POLICE VEHICLES MUST CARRY DEFIBRILLATORS! WE KEEP GOING, WE WILL NEVER GIVE UP…all for you, our precious boy…

The world would be a better place if it was full of Jamies
